For many years we have been keeping the reserved sacrament in an |
Aumbry in the wall in the Lady Chapel. There is always a candle burning there. For some time we have thought that a building our size should house the reserved sacrament in something more central and more beautiful. Due to a very generous, anonymous gift we are going to be able to install a beautiful Hanging Pyx over the altar in the Lady Chapel. If you are not sure what a Hanging Pyx is please do go and take a look at the magnificent drawings in the Lady Chapel. As soon as we have the Faculty through (Ecclesiastical Planning Permission) we will be commissioning the artist to start making the Pyx and hopefully it will be in position before Christmas. Once we have the floor done in the same chapel (hopefully early in 2011) we will have a fantastic space for stillness and prayer adorned by the beautiful carving behind the altar and a stunning piece of art holding the sacrament as a focal point for prayer.
