World War ll Tea - Sunday 21st February 2010

Wartime food returned to Cookham.

46 people, many dressed in 40's clothes, enjoyed a nostalgic tea and raised more that £300 for the Restoration Project.

They were served spam sandwiches, carrot and marmite sandwiches by "Lyon Corner House" waitresses along with wartime cakes and red and green jelly. Small tins of evaporated milk were served instead of cream.

Tea was accompanied by a pianist playing 40s tunes and sound effects of air raid warning sirens, bombers and all clear. A great time was had by all.
